Week 34 April 25-29, 2016
Please remember we have this Friday as an R&R day off! We'll come back ready and refreshed to finish the race!
The first grade classes have been preparing ideas for our Frontier Day to be held Friday, May 13 from 8-10:30. We have plans for Frontier games, foods, crafts, and a costume photo booth! A sign-up for items will be sent early this week. In the meantime, start collecting dress-up items for the period (1800's) if you have any we could borrow.
All of our history from this point on will be about the theme of Westward Expansion. We will focus on Daniel Boone this week. He is an exciting historical figure who really made his mark in the history books. We will make Daniel Boone dolls, and create a mock Ft. Boonesborough. They are going to love it!
ELA

Wednesday: Practice writing 20 words once with markings in preparation for the test on Thursday.
Reading:
Our reading this week will will be Pooh stories.
Questions and writing activities will be in reference to these stories.
We will have our final Reading Group this Tuesday. A BIG THANK YOU! to Mrs. Bruns for her faithfulness all year. The students love reading groups and looked forward to their Tuesdays with her!
MATH
Students will be able to subtract a two-digit number in two steps, subtract the tens and subtract the ones. We will be practicing this quite a bit until the end of May. Thank you parents for helping them understand their math homework. They are doing great!
SCIENCE
Through a variety of activities and readings, students will be able to identify materials in which currents can and cannot flow. They will understand how conductors and insulators work.
Thank you parents for aiding your children with their circuits. They love sharing their creations and it really inspires MORE creations to arrive daily!
INTEGRITY: We are practicing this virtue on a daily basis in 1B. Students are able to recognize whenever this virtue appears, and they applaud the student(s) using this virtue. In a day when it is easy to lie, cheat, and steal, it is refreshing to see students who are learning to be conscientious about the benefits of this virtue in their daily lives.
I hope you have a wonderful week, and remember you may email me anytime with your questions or concerns.
