Week 38  May 23-27, 2016

We did it!  We made it to our last week and with smiles on our faces.  I am looking forward to my last few days with your children.  Here is an overview of the week ahead.

Homework:   We will have the students take home their pink Spalding Books and select 10 words to write down each night.  On Friday, we will have an in-class spelling bee, giving everyone an opportunity to spell the words they practiced.

Monday and Tuesday:  These are full days of learning.  We will practice math concepts we have learned, and read many short stories in both literature and in history.  In science we will continue to study plant and animal life in the oceans of the world.

Dismissal is 2:45 Monday and Tuesday

Wednesday:  This is a fun day!  We will be traveling around the first floor visiting each classroom, which will be set up as one of the seven continents.  Our class will represent South America.  Each room will have snacks for the students and a passport book they will be able to keep.

Thursday: Students may bring a bag from home to take their desk items home today.  We will work hard to clean out our desks, and then review for our spelling bee!

Friday:  LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!  We will have our in class spelling bee, sign our yearbooks, and have a little going away party.  I have plenty of juices left over from Frontier Days and popcorn for all. You may send something in if you wish, but I have enough for everyone!

Classes will be dismissed at 11:45 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - These are half days!

Please let me know if you would like to hire a tutor for the summer.  The school has many teachers who are willing to work with your students.

Have a wonderful, restful, and safe summer!
Thanks for the memories!

Congratulations to my second graders! You are equipped to do well next year!

Love,
Mrs. Sipe
