Week 6
Virtue of the Month: Citizenship
You see the word Citizen. We will be looking for how the students help each other in the community of the classroom. Helping others without being told. Being considerate. Not speaking evil of each other.

Check page 40 in the Math Workbook. The pages listed there need to be completed this week. I have given the students one month to practice completing their homework pages. I will begin this week to count unfinished pages as incomplete. Please make sure you check their work and that they are completing the pages correctly. This is a team effort and we want the best for them.

Literature
We will continue to read Cinderella stories from around the words. We read the Egyptian story on Friday and we will read the Korean story tomorrow. We will discuss all the ways the stories are alike and different.
Reading groups went well on Tuesday. We will continue to have them Tuesday and Thursday of each week. I would love for you to come and help out. I have made it very easy and convenient for you. I have the groups right after the pledge in the morning so you don't have to come back to the school. Your children love it when you are there and I can use the help.
History
We will continue studying about Mesopotamia. This week we will read the Tale of Gilgamesh and learn about cuneiform writing and the Hammurabi's Code.
Science
We will continue to learn about various habitats.
Math
We will take Unit 3 Test on Tuesday and introduce the concept of subtraction using various manipulatives and take-away stories. Math is the subject they all love. I am excited to see how well they will do on the Test.
We have Math Centers on Wednesday at 12:15 - 1:00. Please let me or Mrs. O. know if you would like to help with a center. The more hands the better!
Grammar
This week we will be learning about the four types of sentences. Imperative, declarative, exclamatory, and interrogative. We will practice writing these types of sentence in our journals.
Please watch for blog updates throughout the week.
